Last Day, Team Splits

Our last day of ministry got us going in all different directions.  A good kind of split.

One group went out to Breezy Point.  118 homes burned.  Firefighters fought this blaze through the hurricane.
Justin is a firefighter.  A trip to Breezy Point to see how where help was needed seemed right.  Led by Justin, 5 went out.  After surveying the scene, they joined efforts with Habitat for Humanity.  Again, Justin found himself under a house removing wet insulation.

Chris went with Pastor Ray to Long Beach to deliver needed items.  Their time together was encouraging and sweet fellowship.

Kelsey and Greg helped deliver a load to Coney Island.  Traffic was battled.  They arrived safely and were greeted with smiles.

The rest of the team was at the armory.  Orders were filled and sent out.  Deliveries of donations were recieved and sorted.

A tractor trailer arrived- full of hope!
Right after it left, another pulled in. This one took a lot of work to unload.  What joy as we off loaded water, canned goods, flashlights, and so many blankets.  These are the items people need!  This truck came in from Chicago.  Another just like it will arrive later tonight.  It's mind boggling to think of how many people gave and loaded that truck, how far it came, and those that touched everything again to off load, and sort…. then how many people would be benefitting from all this!!  I saw quilts today.  Some had notes of encouragement attatched.  Some were stitched in.  Some had Scriptures.  So much love in supplying the needs of others!

Some team members got back to base after dinner.  Those they were working with had fed them.
A good portion of the team went to Times Square- to take in the sights.  And to ride the subway one last time.  Guess we got used to the big city!  This coming from one bonifide country girl.  When God calls you to do something, He gives you everything you need to do it!
