My name is Alex, and I have had the most amazing week in Staten Island. The Lord blessed me with the ability to go, and this week I have done everything from handing out flyers to painting a church. I will never forget this week. The most significant part came to me when I was passing out flyers house to house. A man came running down the street yelling. I looked at the man behind me, and he said “He isn’t talking to me.” So as the man approached me, out of breath and sweating, I realized he said he needed a pair of pants. He said, “The Judge won’t see me because I don’t have long pants.” It didn’t take me very long to realize this man was under the influence of drugs, but I told him I would go talk to my leader. I got over to Kevin, and I said “A man came up to me asking for long pants for his court appearance.” Kevin walked back over to the man and talked for a few brief seconds. I said to the man, “I have my hockey pants back at the warehouse, I’m not sure if they would fit”. He replied, “Anything would do.” So, I made the decision to sprint to the warehouse to retrieve my pants. I returned about three minutes later. I gave the man my pants, and he said, “God bless you.” I didn’t know this man, I had no clue where he was from, and I didn’t know his story. But God spoke to me and told me to help his man out. I knew I would likely never see these pants again, but I knew what I did had meaning. People say, “Giving the shirt off your back”, but I say, “Giving the pants off your waist.”
